1961 - Bob Dylan plays for the first time at Gerde's Folk City in Greenwich Village, opening forJohn Lee Hooker and performing a new song entitled "Blowin' In The Wind."

- Doug Hopkins (lead guitarist, songwriter for the Gin Blossoms) is born in Seattle, Washington, but will be raised in Tempe, Arizona.

1965 - Bob Dylan's second album,The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, goes to #1 in the UK. It's the first time an artist other than The Beatles or The Rolling Stones has topped the chart since theSummer Holidaysoundtrack on April 28, 1963.

1979 - Sebastien Grainger Rock drummer and vocalist

(of Death from Above 1979) is born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

1983 - R.E.M.'s first album "Murmur" was released.

- Metallica fired co-founding member Dave Mustaine.

1992 - Legendary Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson and famed British comedian Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean reached #9 on the UK Singles Chart, with their cover version ofAlice Cooper’ssong classic:Elected. This song was recorded for the UK’s charity organization Comic Relief.

- Pearl Jam made their debut as the musical guest onSaturday Night Live. Pearl Jam performed their classics Alive and Porch.

1994 - Nirvana's album "In Utero" was certified double-platinum.

2015 - The super incredible IRON MAIDEN have their 2008 compilation album, Somewhere Back in Time – The Best of: 1980 – 1989, ranked at#11, on theiTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart.
