1949: Alan Lancaster, founding member and bassist of Status Quo ("Pictures Of Matchstick Men"), was born in Peckham, London.
1959: Buddy Holly is buried in Lubbock, Texas. The inscription on his tombstone reads "Holley", the correct spelling of his surname, and includes pictures of a guitar. Buddy's pallbearers were Joe Mauldin, Jerry Allison, Niki Sullivan, Bob Montgomery, Sonny Curtis and Phil Everly.
1961: Elvis Presley released the single "Surrender".
1962: David Bryan (real name David Rashbaum), keyboardist for Bon Jovi, was born in Edison, New Jersey.
1968: Sully Erna , guitarist and vocalist of Godsmack, was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
1969: The Who recorded Pnball Wizard Studios in London.
1970: Led Zeppelin II was the #1 album in the U.K.
1980: Twelve days before his death, Bon Scott goes to the UFO concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.
1981: Pink Floyd began The Wall Tour in the US when they gave their first live performance of the new double album in Los Angeles. A 30 foot high wall made of Styrofoam blocks was constructed across the 160 foot stage in the first half of the show, and then following the intermission, it was thoroughly destroyed.
1986: The Rolling Stones shot the video for "Harlem Shuffle" in New York City.
1987: Bon Jovi had their fifth week at #1 on the Album chart with Slippery When Wet.
1988: DIO performed at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma, USA. Megadeth and Savatage were the supporting bands. This was the Dream Evil Tour.
2000: Dave Peverett of Savoy Brown and the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Foghat, died of kidney cancer in Orlando, Florida at age 57.
2015: Joe Mauldin, bassist for Buddy Holly And The Crickets, died of cancer at the age of 74.
