1961: INXS drummer Jon Farriss is born in Perth, Western Australia. His brothers Tim and Andrew are also in the band.
1968: Cream's Wheels Of Fire album hits #1 in the US.
The Who release "Magic Bus." It was written by their guitarist Pete Townshend during the time that their debut album My Generation. It has become one of the band's most popular songs and has been a concert staple, although when released, the record only reached number 26 in the UK and number 25 in the United States.
1970: Neil Diamond released the single "Cracklin' Rosie".
Weasels Ripped My Flesh released.It is the seventh studio album by the American rock group the Mothers of Invention, and the tenth overall by Frank Zappa
1977: Aaron Kamin (lead guitarist for The Calling) is born in Studio City, California.

1984: The Red Hot Chili Peppers released their debut album.The album was produced by Gang of Four guitarist Andy Gill, and is the only Peppers album to feature Jack Sherman on guitar. Sherman was in the band as a replacement for founding member Hillel Slovak, who'd left the band along with founding drummer Jack Irons before the album was recorded.
1992: Def Leppard began an extensive tour at Madison Square Garden.

1993: Billy Joel released, River of Dreams, is the twelfth and his final studio album.River of Dreams presented a more serious tone than found in Joel's previous albums, dealing with issues such as trust and long-lasting love.
1999: Oasis announced that rhythm guitarist Paul Arthurs was leaving the group.
2008: Isaac Hayes, singer-songwriter most noted for the #1 song "Theme From 'Shaft'" died at his home in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 65.
