1952: Chris Cross (bass guitarist for Ultravox) is born in Tottenham, London, England.
1960: Kyle Gass, vocalist, musician, and actor, best known as a member of Tenacious D. and his own group, the Kyle Gass Band, was born in Walnut Creek, CA
1962: The Beatles played at the Regent Dansette in Rhyl, Wales.
1964: The Rolling Stones topped the U.K. chart with "It's All Over Now".
1965: Igor Khoroshev, keyboard player of Yes from 1997-2001, was born in Moscow, Russia.
1967: The Who opened for Herman's Hermits on the Who's first American tour, performing at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon on this date.
- David Bowie released “Love You till Tuesday,” the second single from his self-titled debut album.
1969: Bob Dylan made a surprise appearance with The Band at the Mississippi River Rock Festival. He performed three songs.
1971: Nick McCabe, guitarist with the Verve, was born in Haydock, Lancashire, England.
1972: The Eagles performed at the Warehouse in New Orleans, Louisiana on their first tour.
1973: Former Byrds guitarist and vocalist Roger McGuinn released his self-titled debut solo album. Issued after the Byrds’ reunion album that was released three months earlier, recording sessions included all five founding members of the group, as well as contributions from Bob Dylan, Bruce Johnston, Buddy Emmons, Spooner Oldham, Jim Gordon, and Hal Blaine.
1976: America released “Amber Cascades,” the second single from their sixth studio album, Hideaway.
1977: The BBC lifts their ban on The Sex Pistols, who appear on Top Of The Pops in a video clip performing their song "Pretty Vacant," which has become a surprise hit in the UK.
1982: Van Halen began their American tour at the Augusta/Richmond County Civic Center in Augusta, Georgia.
1984: Elite guitarist Eddie Van Halen joined Michael Jackson on stage for a performance of "Beat It" during the Jacksons' Victory Tour in Dallas, Texas.
1987: Steve Miller was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

2015: Dave Somerville, lead singer for The Diamonds, died of cancer at the age of 81. The Canadian quartet charted sixteen times on Billboard's various charts in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including the Top 10 hits "Little Darlin'", "Silhouettes" and "The Stroll"
