Sir Michael Philip Jagger

1943:  Mick Jagger was born in Dartford, Kent, England. Sir Michael Philip Jagger He is an English singer, songwriter, actor, and film producer who gained worldwide fame as the lead singer and one of the founder members of the Rolling Stones. Jagger's career has spanned over five decades, and he has been described as "one of the most popular and influential frontmen in the history of rock & roll"

1961: Singer-songwriter Gary Cherone is born in Malden, Massachusetts. Best known for his work in the band Extreme, he joins Van Halen for one album: Van Halen III, released in 1997.

1968: The Rolling Stones album Beggar's Banquet is scheduled for release, but withdrawn by their label, Decca, over concerns with the album cover, which shows a toilet covered in graffiti. The album is later released with a picture of an invitation on the cover.

1969: The Chicago Transit Authority, Santana, the Guess Who, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, It's A Beautiful Day, Lonnie Mack, and the Ike and Tina Revue performed on the second day of the Seattle Pop Festival at Gold Creek Park in Woodinville, Washington.

1974: London graffiti artists hired by the Rolling Stones' management spray paint various local sites as promotion for the group's latest single, "It's Only Rock N' Roll."

1975:  The Eagles moved into the #1 slot on the Album chart with One of These Nights.

1976: Ted Nugent's self-titled debut album is certified Gold, eventually selling over 2 million copies.

1979:  The Clash released the single "I Fought The Law", their remake of the Bobby Fuller Four hit.

1980: Singer/Guitarist/Producer Dave "Brownsound" Baksh (of Sum 41 and Organ Thieves) is born in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.

1984:  The movie Purple Rain starring Prince premiered at Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California.

1990: Grateful Dead keyboard player Brent Mydland dies of a drug overdose at age 37.

2013:  J.J. Cale, singer, songwriter, guitarist and drummer, whose songs were recorded by artists such as Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kansas, died of a heart attack in La Jolla, California at the age of 74.

- Mike Shipley, producer and mixer for Foreigner, Queen, the Cars, Kelly Clarkson, AC/DC, Joni Mitchell, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Jefferson Airplane, Def Leppard, Blondie, Van Halen, Michael Bolton, Green Day, Shania Twain, Cheap Trick, Faith Hill, Kim Carnes, Nickelback, Mr. Mister, the Clash, Meat Loaf, the Barenaked Ladies, Keith Urban, Winger, Devo, Berlin, Thomas Dolby, A Flock of Seagulls, and the Corrs, died of an apparent suicide in Studio City, California at age 56.
