1965: Animals release ‘We’ve Got to Get Out of this Place’ in UK

-The Who performed at the Locarno Ballroom in Basildon, England.

1969: John Lennon makes solo debut on UK chart with ‘Give Peace a Chance’

1978: The Rolling Stones crashed the Quiet Knight club in Chicago to jam with Muddy Waters.

1986: Queen performed at St. James' Park in Newcastle uponTyne, England.

1988: OU812 by Van Halen returned for a third week at the top of the Album chart. Hysteria by Def Leppard held on to #2

– Poison has their hit single, Nothin’ But A Good Time, ranked at #6, on the iTunes Top 100 Singles Chart. This song is featured on POISON’s second studio album from 1988: Open Up And Say… Ahh!

1999: Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Motörhead, Metal Church and Dangerous Toys started their Operation Rock ‘n Roll Tour at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

1994: The Kiss tribute album, “Kiss My Ass, Classic Kiss Regrooved” enters the chart. The LP features Kiss songs done by artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder and Garth Brooks.

1995: The Grateful Dead give their last concert with leader Jerry Garcia at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

1996: For anyone wondering where Deep Purple's song "Smoke On The Water" was written--It was Montreux, Switzerland following a nightclub fire, and on this date, the great group played that famous song at the Auditorium Stravinski in Montreux for the first time.

2004: The documentary film "Some Kind Of Monster" was released in theatres!!!

2006: Muse owned the top U.K. album with Black Holes and Revelations.


2009: Megadeth released the Grammy nominated single "Head Crusher" from the album Head Crusher

2013: Butcher Babies released their debut album "Goliath"

Born on this day

1946: Bon Scott ( Ronald Belford Scott), original lead singer of AC/DC, was born in Forfar, Scotland; died February 19, 1980 in Lambeth, England from acute alcohol poisoning. Having arrived from 'Bonnie Scotland', he was dubbed 'Bon', and the nickname stuck. Scott formed his first band, The Spektors, in 1964 and became the band's drummer and occasional lead vocalist. He performed in several other bands including The Valentines and Fraternity before replacing Dave Evans as the lead singer of AC/DC in 1974

1947: Mitch Mitchell, drummer of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, was born in Ealing, Middlesex, England; died November 12, 2008 in Portland, Oregon of natural causes, although Mitchell had been in ill health for several years of alcohol-related causes.

1959: Jim Kerr, founder, lead singer and songwriter of Simple Minds, was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

1965: Frankie Bello, bass, Anthrax, (1991 UK No.16 single 'Got The Time').

1975: Jack White, (John Gillis), guitar, vocals, The White Stripes, (2003 UK No.1 album 'Elephant' spent 46 weeks on the UK chart). Also a member of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather.

1976: Dan Estrin, guitarist with Hoobastank, was born in Los Angeles.
