1965: Bob Dylan recorded 'Like A Rolling Stone' at Columbia Recording Studios in New York City, in the sessions for the forthcoming 'Highway 61 Revisited' album. Session musicians included Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper, whose Hammond organ on 'Like A Rolling Stone' became one of rock's most recognizable sounds
1967: The Monterey International Pop Festival at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California begins. This historic festival introduces Hard Rock icons Janis Joplin, The Who andThe Jimi Hendrix Experience to the American mainstream and pop culture world.
1967: Pink Floyd released their second single 'See Emily Play' which was written by original frontman Syd Barrett. The slide guitar work on the song was done by Barrett using a plastic ruler.
1982: Pretenders guitarist James Honeyman-Scott died following sustained cocaine and heroin addiction.
1989: Skid Row released the single "18 And Life"
1991: Type o negative released debut album "Slow, Deep And Hard" on Roadrunner Records. The album, originally titled None More Negative and released in 1990 under the group's former name Repulsion,launched the band's career. low, Deep and Hard is a semi-autobiographical album with heavy amounts of black humor, based on a relationship in which the vocalist/bass guitarist Peter Steele was involved.
