1965: The Kinks and the Moody Blues made their US concert debut at the Academy of Music in New York City.
1965: The Beatles record "Act Naturally," "Wait," and "Yesterday."
1972: The Rolling Stones moved form 10 to 1 to take over the top spot on the Album chart with Exile on Main Street.
1976: Blondie released their debut single 'X Offender'. Written by Gary Valentine and Debbie Harry, the title of the song was originally 'Sex Offender', written about an 18-year-old boy being arrested for having sex with his younger girlfriend. Debbie Harry changed the lyrics so that the song was about a prostitute being attracted to the police officer that had arrested her. Private Stock, the band’s label insisted that the single be changed to 'X Offender' because they were nervous about the original title.
1978: One of the great rock groups of the '70s and '80s first appeared on the charts as their single "Just What I Needed" debuted. It was the first of many hits for the group from Boston ,The Cars.
1980: Led Zeppelin began its final tour which would end in W. Berlin in July.
1989: Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne had their hit power ballad, Close My Eyes Forever, ranked at #8, on the (U.S.)
1991: Van Halen released their ninth studio album, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (F.U.C.K.), via Warner Bros. records. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and maintained the position for three weeks. This album went on to debut at #1 on the (U.S.) Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. The huge hit single, Right Now, is featured on this record.The album's title came from lead singer Sammy Hagar, who wanted to push the issue of censorship with naming Van Halen's album with a vulgarity, stating, "That's when censorship was a big issue. I wanted to name the album just Fuck." Van Halen started work on the album in March 1990 and finished in April 1991 (just two months before its release).
1997: Megadeth released "Cryptic Writings" their seventh studio album Released on June 17, 1997 through Capitol Records, it was the band's last studio album to feature drummer Nick Menza.His departure would mark the end of the band's longest lasting lineup to date, having recorded four studio albums. The album features 12 tracks with accessible song structures, specifically aimed for radio airplay. The lyrics were also altered, in order to make the music more inclusive for wider audience. These changes were met with mixed opinions from music critics, who noted the band moving away from their thrash metal roots.
2012: Bruce Springsteen played his longest show when he turned in a three-hour-and-48-minute, 32-song, set at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.He is the Boss!!!
2016: Gojira release "Magma" their sixth studio album released through Roadrunner Records.On 22 April 2016, the band released an official video for the track "Stranded" and on 20 May 2016, the band released an official video for the track "Silvera".
2016: Red Hot Chili Peppers release "The Getaway", their first album since 2011 and their first since 1991 without Rick Rubin producing - Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton is the producer.
