Rock and Metal History, a day like today June 25

Releases:Alice Cooper Goes To Hell, Attack Of The Killer B's,Hollywood Vampires,Crucible. Clint Warwick,Allen Lanier,Ian McDonald,Mike Kroeger were born.

1966: The Beatles started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with'Paperback Writer', the group's 12th US No.1. The track is marked by the boosted bass guitar sound throughout, partly in response to John Lennon demanding to know why the bass on a certain Wilson Pickett record far exceeded the bass on any Beatles records. It was also cut louder than any other Beatles record, due to a new piece of equipment used in the mastering process.

1967: 200 million people saw The Beatles perform 'All You Need Is Love', live via satellite as part of the TV global link- up, 'Our World', Mick Jagger, Keith Richards,Eric Clapton, Graham Nash, Keith Moon and Gary Leeds provided backing vocals.


Alice Cooper Goes To Hell

1976: Alice Cooper released his ninth studio album "Alice Cooper Goes To Hell". A continuation of Welcome to My Nightmare as it continues the story of Steven, this concept album was written almost exclusively by Cooper with guitar player Dick Wagner and producer Bob Ezrin.Alice continued with the rock ballads on this album. “I Never Cry” was written about his drinking problem, which would in one year send the performer into rehab and affect all his subsequent music up to and including 1983’s DaDa.[Cooper called the song “an alcoholic confession”.In 2005 the first track, “Go to Hell”, was featured as the theme song to the sixth episode of Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil titled "Human Sacrifice". The song was also featured in the 2009 video game Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, and in the 1986 movie The American Way.

1977: The Steve Miller Band landed in the Top 10 with "Jet Airliner".

1983: The Police scored their fourth UK No.1 album with 'Synchronicity', also No.1 in the US and featuring the singles 'Every Breath You Take' and 'Wrapped Around Your Finger'.

-Kiss performed the last concert in makeup until 1996 at Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

1988: Hillel Slovak original guitarist and founding member of Red Hot Chili Peppers died from a heroin overdose shortly after the band returned from a European tour. Slovak recorded two albums with the band, Freaky Styley and The Uplift Mofo Party Plan.

-Van Halen’s eighth album OU812 reached number one on the Billboard 200 Album Chart for the first of four weeks.

1991: L.A. Guns released theit third studio album "Hollywood Vampires". The meticulous production gives the album a sound typical of the period — a full sound, with lots of background harmony vocals, layered guitars and additional keyboard tracks. The album starts in a more somber note with "Over the Edge", which was used in the film Point Break, but the bulk of it consists of standard hard rockers, such as "Kiss My Love Goodbye" and "My Koo Ka Choo". Hollywood Vampires presents various shades of the band and is representative of the late 1980s/early 1990s heavy metal scene, with riff-laden songs and big choruses on every song.

Attack Of The Killer B's"

1991: Anthrax released the compilation of B-sides "Attack Of The Killer B's" .It was released by Megaforce Worldwide/Island Entertainment. The "B's" in the album's the title refers to b-sides previously unreleased and compiled for a single release. In 1992 the album was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Metal Performance.Though a collection of "B-sides", the album would ironically feature one of their biggest singles; a collaboration/cover of Public Enemy's "Bring the Noise".The two live tracks, "Keep It In The Family" and "Belly Of The Beast", were recorded during the 1990–91 Persistence of Time tour. Also included is an updated version of their 1987 single, "I'm the Man", and three songs previously released only in Europe and Japan on the 1989 EP, Penikufesin ("Nise Fukin EP"), recorded during the State of Euphoria sessions.Two versions of the album were released: the uncensored version contained full expletives and the song "Startin' up a Posse", and the censored version which excluded the aforementioned track, and in place of the explicit words, a buzzing noise (like bees) is heard.

1996: KISS released LIVE album "You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best!"


Crucible 2010

2002: Halford released the album "Crucible" . A remixed and remastered edition was released in 2010. In contrast with the retrospective approach of the previous Halford album, resurrection,Crucible was an intentional effort to depart from the traditional metal themes.The album has been described as hard[er], darker, and more moody than Resurrection"

Live At Budokan

2002: OzzyOsbourne released a CD/DVD combination "Live At Budokan" . It was recorded at the Nippon Budokan Hall on 15 February 2002 in Tokyo, Japan.Also, the DVD features the song "Suicide Solution" and Zakk Wylde's accompanying guitar solo. This was cut from the CD for time restraints.

Deceiver Of The Gods

2013: Amon Amarth released their ninth album "Deceiver Of The Gods". It was released in Sweden and Finland June 19 2013, and in USA June 25 2013. Former Candlemass singer Messiah Marcolin makes a guest appearance on the track "Hel".The title of the album and its artwork were revealed on April 12, 2013,[ and the title song was released on the band's homepage a day later, available for streaming or as a free download. A video for the song was released in September 2014. In Canada, the album debuted at number 9 on the Canadian Albums Chart. This would be the band's last album with longtime drummer Fredrik Andersson before he left the band in March 2015.
