1947: Boston founder Tom Scholz is born in Toledo, Ohio.
1958: Big Records released 'Our Song' by a teenage duo from Queens, New York, Tom and Jerry. The duo will become famous in the '60s under their real names, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.
1963: Jeff Ament, bassist of Pearl Jam, was born in Havre, Montana.
1964: Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel recorded 'The Sounds Of Silence' as an acoustic duo. It wasn't until record company producers added electric guitar, bass and drums, without the knowledge of Paul and Art, that the song would become a hit in late 1965.
1966: Dave Krusen, original drummer of Pearl Jam, was born in Tacoma, Washington.
1966: Bob Dylan records "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)," "Temporary Like Achilles," "Rainy Day Women #12 And 35," "Obviously 5 Believers," "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat," and "I Want You."
1967: The Beatles record "Getting Better."
1972: America's self-titled debut album is certified Gold.
1973: John Charles LeCompt, guitarist of Evanescence, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas.
1975: Elvis Presley records "Fairytale," "Green, Green Grass of Home," "I Can Help," and "And I Love You So."
1975: Jerry Horton (lead guitarist for Papa Roach) is born in Charleston, South Carolina.
1981: Jimmy Page takes the stage for the first time since the breakup of Led Zeppelin when he joins Jeff Beck for some encores at a London show.
1981: Robert Plant, former lead singer of Led Zeppelin, performed with his new group the Honeydrippers in an unannounced concert at Keele University in Keele, Staffordshire, England.
1984: Ian Gillan leaves Black Sabbath after a year with the band. He later says, "I was the worst singer Black Sabbath ever had.".He rejoined Deep Purple. The only Sabbath album he was a part of was 1983’s Born Again.
1984: "Jump" by Van Halen held on to #1 for a third week
1988: In the U.S.,Prince's 10th album was released entitled "Lovesexy." Some stores refused to sell the album due to the nude portrait that was on the cover.
1998: Eric Clapton's first album of regular studio material since 1989 was released under the name "Pilgrim."
1998: Motörhead, released their fourteenth studio album,Snake Bite Love on Steamhammer, their third with the label.
2003: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted AC/DC, The Clash, The Police, Elvis Costello and The Righteous Brothers.The Police reunited onstage and performed "Roxanne" and "Message In A Bottle".
2006: Lordi releases The Arockalypse, featuring the hit single "Hard Rock Hallelujah."
2009: Tickets for a one-off gig by Sir Paul McCartney in Las Vegas sold out seven seconds after going on sale. The former Beatle was booked to perform at the opening of the New Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on 19 April 2009 in-front of 4,000 fans. Tickets cost $750 each.
