1967: The Beatles record "Within You Without You."

1972: Mark Hoppus (bassist, co-lead vocalist of blink-182) is born in Ridgecrest, California.


Destroyer

1976: KISS release their album Destroyer, featuring "Detroit Rock City" and "Beth."

1982 : Bob Dylan was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame at the 13th annual dinner held at the Hilton Hotel in New York City.

1999: Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame by U2's Bono.

2004: The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inducts Bob Seger, George Harrison, The Dells, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne, Prince, and Traffic at their annual ceremony in New York City.











Mike Porcaro

2014: Scott Asheton, drummer for legendary punk-rock band The Stooges, died at age 64. Asheton co-founded The Stooges in 1967 along with Iggy Pop, bassist Dave Alexander and his brother, guitarist Ron Asheton, who died in 2009.


2015: 59-year-old Mike Porcaro, bassist for Toto, died after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was with the band from 1983 until 2007 and appeared on such albums as "Isolation" (1984), "Fahrenheit" (1986), "Mindfields" (1998) and "Through the Looking Glass" (2002).











2019: The New York Public Library opens the Lou Reed Archive, with photos, recordings and other media documenting his career.
