Carl Palmer

1950: Carl Palmer, elite drummer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, was born in Handsworth, Birmingham, England.

1964: The Beatles appear for the first time on the British TV show "Ready Steady Go!,"

- The Temptations released their debut album Meet the Temptations on the Gordy (Motown) label.

1968: Eric Clapton jams with Buffalo Springfield members Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Jim Messina and Richie Furay at the Topanga Canyon home of Stills' girlfriend. Neighbors call the cops, and all but Stills (who escapes through a window) are charged with suspicion of marijuana use. Clapton beats the rap; Young, Messina and Furay are found guilty and fined.

1969: John Lennon married Yoko Ono in Gibraltar.

1971: Nearly six months after her death, Janis Joplin's "Me And Bobby McGee" hits #1 in the US for the first of two weeks. It is her only Top 10 hit.

1972: Ringo Starr records "Back Off Boogaloo."


Chester Bennington

1976:  Chester Bennington, lead vocalist and songwriter of Linkin Park, was born in Phoenix, Arizona.He was best known as the lead vocalist for Linkin Park and was also lead vocalist for the bands Dead by Sunrise, Stone Temple Pilots, and Grey Daze.Bennington has been credited by several publications as one of the greatest rock vocalists of his generation.





1977: Lou Reed was banned from appearing The London Palladium in England because of his punk image.





1982: Joan Jett And The Blackhearts started a seven week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll'.

1991: Eric Clapton's four year old son, Conor, fell to his death from the 53rd story of a New York City apartment after a housekeeper who was cleaning the room left a window open.

1993: Two children are killed in an Irish Republican Army bombing in Warrington, England, inspiring the Cranberries song "Zombie."

2008: The Eagles launch their world tour in support of their album Long Road Out of Eden

2015: Twisted Sister drummer A.J. Pero dies of an apparent heart attack in New York at age 55.

2020: Kenny Rogers dies at 81.
