1952: Alan Clark (keyboardist for Dire Straits) is born in Great Lumley, England.
1965: The Manish Boys (with David Bowie) release "I Pity The Fool."
1970: John Frusciante, elite guitarist, singer-songwriter with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was born in Queens, New York.
1971: Led Zeppelin begins their "Thank You" tour of small clubs that supported them when they started out, charging the same prices they charged in 1968. They premiered their new song "Stairway To Heaven", as well as "Rock And Roll", "Black Dog" and "Going To California".
1983: Cliff Burton plays his first show with Metallica, at the Stone in San Francisco, California.
2007: "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones and the incredible Graceland album by Paul Simon, along with "Blue Suede Shoes" by Carl Perkins and "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes, were chosen by the United States Library of Congress for preservation by the National Recordings Registry, which preserved the works for future generations.
