1944: Yes founder and frontman Jon Anderson is born in Accrington, Lancashire, England.
1949: Glenn Tipton (guitarist for Judas Priest) is born in Blackheath, England.Often noted for his complex playing style and classically influenced solos.On 12 February 2018, Tipton revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease,(first diagnosed in 2008)
1955: Matthias Jabs (guitarist for Scorpions) is born in Hannover, Germany.
1957: Robbie McIntosh, guitarist of the Pretenders, was born in Sutton, Surrey, England.
1961: Chad Smith (drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers) is born Chadwick Gaylord Smith in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
1963: John Leven (bass guitarist for Europe) is born in Stockholm, Sweden.
1967: The Monkees released the single "Daydream Believer".
1968: The New Yardbirds perform for the first time under their new name Led Zeppelin at a gig at Surrey University, England.

1969: English rock band Pink Floyd released Ummagumma their fourth studio album (Harvest records),which came after splitting with original frontman Syd Barrett.The first disc consists of live recordings from concerts at Mothers Club in Birmingham and the College of Commerce in Manchester that contained part of their normal set list of the time, while the second contains solo compositions by each member of the band recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

1971: Clutch singer/guitarist Neil Fallon is born in Portsmouth, Virginia.
1977: Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd is laid to rest in a Jacksonville cemetery five days after dying in a plane crash that also killed band members Steve and Cassie Gaines.
1986: Bon Jovi first moved into the #1 position on the Album chart with Slippery When Wet after seven weeks of release.
1993: Howie Blauvelt (bass guitarist for Ram Jam) dies of a heart attack. Blauvelt also played bass for Billy Joel's former group The Hassles.

2014: Jack Bruce, bassist and founding member of Cream, dies at age 71.
