1925: B.B. King was born on a cotton plantation between Itta Bena and Indianola, Mississippi; died in Las Vegas, Nevada May 14, 2015 two weeks after being placed in home hospice care of dehydration.
1941: Joe Butler, drummer and a founding member of Lovin' Spoonful, was born in Glen Cove, New York.
1948: Ron Blair, bass guitarist with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, was born in San Diego, California.
Kenney Jones, drummer for the Faces and later the Who, was born in Whitechapel, London.
1963: "She Loves You" by the Beatles was released by Swan Records in the United States.
1970: Jimi Hendrix made his final public appearance. He appeared with Eric Burdon and War at a club in London.
1974: Bob Dylan began recording his album Blood on the Tracks.
1977: The Rolling Stones released the album Love You Live in the U.S.
1978: The Grateful Dead recorded a concert at the pyramids in Egypt.
1984: Deep Purple, released Perfect Strangers.
1985: KISS released the album "Asylum.", their 13th studio album. Asylum is the first album to feature lead guitarist Bruce Kulick as an official band member.
