1948:  John Panozzo, drummer of Styx and his twin Chuck Panozzo, bassist of Styx, were born in Chicago.

1965: The Animals record "It's My Life."

Ben Shepherd

1968: Ben Shepherd, bassist of Soundgarden, was born in Okinawa, Japan.

1969:  During a band meeting in London, John Lennon announced he was leaving the Beatles.

1971: Peter Frampton quit Humble Pie to follow a solo career

1973:  The Jim Croce, who was on the verge of superstardom, died at age 30 when his light plane crashed shortly after takeoff in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

1975: David Bowie had the top tune on Billboard's singles chart with "Fame", a song co-written by John Lennon, who can be heard singing near the end of the record.


Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

1976: AC/DC released their third studio album, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. It was the band's third LP released in Australia and second in Europe in 1976 but was not released in the United States until 1981, more than one year after lead singer Bon Scott's death.

1978: The Who's "Who Are You" LP goes Gold. The single of the same name would later be used as the theme for the popular US TV show C.S.I.

1979:  Rick Woolstenhulme, drummer of Lifehouse, was born in Gilbert, Arizona.



Blizzard of Ozz

1980: Ozzy Osbourne released Blizzard of Ozz, his debut studio album.The album was Osbourne's first release following his firing from Black Sabbath in 1979.Blizzard of Ozz is the first of two studio albums Osbourne recorded with guitarist Randy Rhoads prior to Rhoads' death in 1982.

1985:  Simple Minds released the single "Alive And Kicking".

2004: Green Day releases American Idiot in the UK.



Lionheart

2004: SAXON released their sixteenth studio album, Lionheart. It is the only studio album featuring drummer Jörg Michael.The title is inspired from Richard the Lionheart, a 12th-century King of England.










2005: Bon Jovi released Have a Nice Day, their ninth studio album.Have a Nice Day was originally recorded in the summer of 2004 and planned for release in early 2005.It ranked number one in its debut, in 15 countries. The album also ranked No.2 in both the US and UK. In the US, it sold over 202,000 copies in the first week.

2010: Leonard Skinner, the namesake of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd, dies of Alzheimer's disease at age 77. As a gym teacher at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida, he sent Ronnie Van Zant to the principal's office because his hair was too long.
