1947: Don Felder (Eagles lead guitarist) is born in Gainesville, Florida.
1954: Phil Taylor, better known as "Philthy Animal,"drummer of Motorhead, was born in Hasland, Derbyshire, England; died November 11, 2015 of liver failure. Until 1992 he recorded eleven studio albums and four live albums. The Motörhead line-up consisting of Taylor, Lemmy, and "Fast" Eddie Clarke is generally regarded as the 'classic' line-up of the band.
1968: Jimi Hendrix releases "All Along The Watchtower ".
1970: Santana released the album Abraxas.
1972: Liam Gallagher is born William John Paul Gallagher in Burnage, Manchester, England. He forms Oasis with his older brother, Noel.
1972: David Silveria (Korn drummer) is born in San Leandro, California.
1985: Dire Straits reached #1 with "Money For Nothing".
1989: Less than six months after hitting #1 with "Eternal Flame," the Bangles announce their split, with Susanna Hoffs launching a solo career. They re-form in 1998.
1991: Dire Straits had the #1 album in the U.K. with On Every Street.
1993: Nirvana release In Utero,their third and final studio album.Upon release, In Utero reached number one on both the
US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart.
1997: Radiohead's video for "Karma Police" debuts on the MTV show 120 Minutes.
1999: Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails earns the first #1 in its career, as The Fragile debuts at the top of The Billboard 200, easily outpacing all other competitors in a market crowded with new releases.
2000: Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks re-form as Genesis for a one-off performance at the London Hilton during the British Music Roll of Honour gala, organized by the Music Managers Forum. The act's manager, Tony Smith receives the Peter Grant Award for outstanding achievement at the event.
2011: After 31 years and 15 studio albums, R.E.M. announced they were splitting up.
