1946: Clive Bunker, drummer and co-founder of Jethro Tull, was born in Luton, Bedfordshire, England.
1947: Graham Bonnett, lead singer of Rainbow and the Michael Schenker Group was born in Skegness, England.
1955: Bill Haley and the Comets recorded "See You Later Alligator."
1953: Bruce Kulick, American guitarist, worked with Meat Loaf, Michael Bolton, Grand Funk Railroad and KISS.
1963: Beatles: ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ hits #1 at UK 45
1966: Pink Floyd perform their first concert at Oxfam benefit at Royal Albert Hall.
1968: Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus’ filmed at Wembley TV Studios. John and Yoko, Eric Clapton, Who Jethro Tull and Mitch Mitchell are among the performers. It is never shown
1969: The Plastic Ono Band releases Live Peace In Toronto 1969..Plastic Ono Band (featuring Eric Clapton, Klaus Voorman, Alan White and John and Yoko) .
1970: The Doors played what would be their last ever live show with Jim Morrison when they played at the Warehouse in New Orleans.
1974: Mick Taylor left the Rolling Stones.
1977: Dino Meneghin (guitarist for The Calling) is born in Walnut Creek, California.
1980: Carl Dalemo, bass, Razorlight, (2005, UK No.2 single Somewhere Else, 2006 UK No.1 album Razorlight).
1981: Venom released their debut album "Welcome To Hell" . 2003: Mick Jagger became a Sir after being knighted by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. Jagger's 92-year-old father was at the Palace to see his son receive the award.
1981: The great rock album 4 by Foreigner was #1 for a fourth week.
1982: Live Evil is the first official live album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath. The previously released Live at Last (1980) was not sanctioned by the band. Live Evil peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart.
1984: DiAnno released their debut album “Di'Anno”. While touring, Paul refused to play any Iron Maiden songs (much to the dismay of the crowd). The sets consisted primarily of original Di'Anno songs, along with a few covers
1985: Ian Stewart, the original keyboard player for The Rolling Stones, dies of a heart attack in London, England, at age 47. Stewart stepped down from the group because his image didn't suit them. He became the group's road manager and played on some of their songs.
1992: The Nirvana album "Incesticide" was released. Incesticide is a compilation album by the American rock band Nirvana. It consists of their 1990 non-album single "Sliver", B-sides, demos, outtakes, cover versions, and radio broadcast recordings, and as such is not the official follow-up to the band's breakthrough album, Nevermind
2012: The Rolling Stones, The Who, Michael Stipe, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen and Roger Waters played at Madison Square Garden and raised over $30m (£18.6m) at a benefit gig in New York for those affected by superstorm Sandy which had caused the deaths of 120 people when it hit the Caribbean and US in October of this year. The surviving members of Nirvana, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, also joined Sir Paul McCartney on stage to perform.
