Jim Messina

1947: Jim Messina, songwriter, singer, guitarist, recording engineer, record producer, and a member of Buffalo Springfield, a founding member of Poco, and half of the duo Loggins and Messina, was born in Maywood.

1958: Mark Boals was born (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ROYAL HUNT, RING OF FIRE)

1960: Jack Russell was born(JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE, GREAT WHITE)



1964: The Zombies' debut single "She's Not There" tops the Cashbox Best Sellers chart. It reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #12 in the UK.


Buffalo Springfield

1966: The self-titled debut album by Buffalo Springfield was released. It later peaked at #80 on the Billboard pop chart and was the first album to feature songwriting by Stephen Stills and Neil Young.

1966: Van Williams was born(NEVERMORE, GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS, PURE SWEET HELL)


Let It Bleed

1969: The Rolling Stones release the foreboding album Let It Bleed, with the classic tracks "Gimme Shelter" and "Midnight Rambler." The next day, a fan is killed during their performance at the Altamont Speedway.

1969: Todd "DAMMIT" Kerns was born (SLASH)

1973: Band on the Run, the third album by Paul McCartney and Wings, was released in the UK two days before it came out in the US. Aided by two hit singles, initially modest sales of the LP improved and it eventually became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the UK and Australia and remains one of McCartney’s most successful albums.

1975: Earth, Wind and Fire's Gratitude album is certified Gold.

1980: U2 play their first show in the US when they perform at The Ritz Ballroom in New York City.

1980: QUEEN's Flash Gordon was released.

1979: Fleetwood Mac released “Sara,” the second single from the band’s Tusk LP.

1981: Black Flag’s influential debut album Damaged was released.

1982: Peter Gabriel released “I Have the Touch,” the second single from his fourth eponymous studio album, which was released in North America as Security.















Balls to the wall

1983: ACCEPT’s Balls To The Walls was released.Balls to the Wall is the fifth studio album by German heavy metal band Accept. European label Lark Records released the album in December 1983, but its United States release was delayed until a month later in January 1984 as to not compete with the band's then-current album Restless and Wild, which had arrived in the US in early 1983. It is Accept's only record to attain Gold certification in the US.The album's title track became Accept's signature tune and remains a metal anthem and trademark in the genre.

1984: Trust released the album “Rock 'n' Roll”. The style of singer Bernie Bonvoisin was compared to that of Bon Scott from AC/DC, with whom Trust had a friendly relationship.


2005: The Rolling Stone released “Rain Fall Down,” the second single from their twenty-second British and twenty-fourth American studio album, A Bigger Bang.

2005: Former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters released his two-disc live album,In the Flesh, which included material from four performances across the country.


Spellbound

2012: Spellbound the nineteenth studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen,was released through his independent label Rising Force Records. Malmsteen played all of the instruments and sang all vocals on this album.
