David DeFeis

1961: David DeFeis was born. He is an American singer, keyboard player, songwriter and producer. He is the main composer and leader of the heavy metal band Virgin Steele.


Peter Steele

1962: Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk was born.(January 4, 1962 – April 14, 2010), known professionally as Peter Steele, was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist, bassist and composer of the gothic metal band Type O Negative. Before forming Type O Negative, Steele had created the metal group Fallout and the thrash band Carnivore.


Till Lindemann

1963: Till Lindemann was born in Germany. Till is lead vocalist and co-founding member for the German Industrial Metal band: Rammstein.


The Doors

1967: The Doors is the eponymous debut studio album of the American rock band the Doors. Recorded in 1966 at Sunset Sound Recorders, Hollywood, California, it was produced by Paul A. Rothchild and released on January 4, 1967. Since its release, the record has been often regarded as one of the greatest debut albums of all time, by both critics and publishers. It features the long version of the breakthrough single "Light My Fire" and the lengthy song "The End" with its Oedipal spoken word section.



1972: Yes releases Roundabout. It is a song by the English progressive rock band Yes from their fourth studio album Fragile.


Defenders Of The Faith

1984: Judas Priest released their ninth studio album: Defenders Of The Faith.The album was certified platinum by the RIAA,and spawned the singles "Freewheel Burning", "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll", and "Love Bites".


Philip Parris Lynott

1986: Philip Parris Lynott died at 36.He was an Irish singer, musician, and songwriter. His most commercially successful group was Thin Lizzy, of which he was a founding member, the principal songwriter, lead vocalist and bassist. He was known for his imaginative lyrical contributions including working class tales and numerous characters drawn from personal influences and Celtic culture.


L.A. GUNS

1988: L.A. GUNS release their full-length and self-titled studio album. On this L.A. GUNS album, Phil Lewis is the vocalist and Tracii Guns is the lead guitarist.

2013: Rob Caggiano, longtime lead guitarist for the band Anthrax, announces he's quitting the band. The split is affirmed by all members as amicable, with Caggiano hinting that he'd like to work on ot her projects.
