1947: Greg Lake, singer/songwriter, bassist of King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer and later a producer, was born in Poole, Dorset, England.
1947: Glen Buxton (guitarist for Alice Cooper Band) is born in Akron, Ohio.
1954: Mario Cipollina, bassist of Huey Lewis & the News, was born in San Rafael, California.
1963: The Yardbirds, with Eric Clapton aboard on guitar, performed at the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond, Surrey, England. 1964: The Beatles played the last date of a U.K. tour at Colston Hall in Bristol, England.
1967: The Moody Blues released "Nights in White Satin."
1972: Led Zeppelin's winter tour of the U.K. sold out as fans bought 120,000 tickets in one day.
1972: Dj Ashba was born. DJ Ashba is a world-renowned guitarist for both SIXX:A.M. and Guns N’ Roses.
1975: Chicago released Chicago IX, their greatest hits package.
1977: New York City’s RIOT releases their debut studio album: Rock City.
1978: The Clash's second album "Give 'Em Enough Rope" was released in England. The album would be their first U.S. release.
1978: Jazz is the seventh studio album by the British rock band Queen. It was released by EMI Records in the United Kingdom and by Elektra Records in the United States. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker, the album artwork was suggested by Roger Taylor, who previously saw a similar design painted on the Berlin Wall.The album's varying musical styles were alternately praised and criticised. It reached number two in the UK Albums Chart and number six on the US Billboard 200.
1979: The Eagles went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Heartache Tonight', the group's 5th and final US No.1. It made No.40 in the UK.
1980: Neil Diamond released "The Jazz Singer" Soundtrack album.
1981: Music from "The Elder" released by American rock band Kiss on the Casablanca Records label in 1981.The album marked a substantial departure from their previous output with its concept and orchestral elements. Due to poor sales, Kiss did not embark on a supporting tour for the first time in its eight-year history, opting instead to make a handful of promotional appearances.

1986: Brazil’s Sepultura released their debut studio album: Morbid Visions. The original Sepultura band lineup was: Max Cavalera (vocals & rhythm guitar), Igor Cavalera (drums, percussion),Paulo Jr. (bass guitar) and Jairo Guedez (lead guitar).
1986: Bruce Springsteen's "Live 1975-1985" box set was released.
1992: U2, Public Enemy and the Sugarcubes all appeared at Jack Murphy Stadium, San Diego, California.
2002: Johnny Griffith dies of a heart attack at age 66. As a keyboardist for Motown's in-house band, The Funk Brothers, he played on several of the label's hits, including "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Stop! In the Name of Love."
2008: Coldplay were declared the biggest-selling act of 2008 at the World Music Awards held in Monaco. The band picked up the prize ‘ along with the Rock Act Of The Year award ‘ after their current album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' topped charts around the globe
2014: Queen released Forever , a compilation album by the British rock band. It features tracks the band had "forgotten about" with vocals from original lead singer Freddie Mercury.Queen's bass guitarist John Deacon is also on the tracks.
