1949: Terry Reid, UK singer, member of Peter Jay's Jaywalkers. Reid turned down the job as lead singer with Led Zeppelin.
1951: Bill Gibson, Huey Lewis and the News, (1985 US No.1 & UK No.11 single 'The Power Of Love').
1964: Decca Records released The Rolling Stones' Little Red Rooster'. Written by Willie Dixon (as The Red Rooster), and previously recorded by Howlin’ Wolf and Sam Cooke, the single was recorded at Chess Studios in Chicago. The single was a No.1 hit in the UK and remains the only time a blues song has ever topped the UK pop chart.
1964: The first official biography of the Rolling Stones, Our Own Story, was published.
1965: The Castiles, which featured a young singer called Bruce Springsteen appeared at The Fire House, Hazlet, New Jersey. The night was billed as a Teenage Go, Go Dance.
1965: The Rolling Stones spent a second week at #1 with "Get Off Of My Cloud"
1968: The Beatles' animated movie Yellow Submarine opened in theaters.
1970: Syd Barrett released his second solo album Barrett only 10 months after his debut The Madcap Laughs. David Gilmour produced the whole album, which also featured performances by Pink Floyd's Richard Wright on keyboards. The album has since been reissued in remastered form with extra tracks from the sessions.
1971: Santana III took over as the #1 album as the Soundtrack to "Shaft"slipped to #2. Rod Stewart was right behind with Every Picture Tells a Story, John Lennon's Imagine remained at 4 and Cat Stevens edged up with Teaser and the Firecat.
1971: Cat Stevens releases ‘Tea for the Tillerman’ LP
1971: Pink Floyd release ‘Meddle’. Meddle is the sixth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, by Harvest Records. The album was produced between the band's touring commitments, from January to August 1971 at a series of locations around London, including Abbey Road Studios and Morgan Studios.
1976: Led Zeppelin scored their seventh UK No.1 with the film soundtrack double album The Song Remains The Same, peaking at No.2 on the US chart. The tracks were recorded at Madison Square Garden, New York City in 1973.
1976: The Melody Maker announced UK dates for the first major punk tour withThe Sex Pistols and the Ramones co-headlining along with Talking Heads, The Vibrators and Chris Spedding. The 14-date tour which was due to start at Newcastle City Hall on Nov 29th never took place.
1976: The incredible Frampton Comes Alive! album by Peter Frampton moved back up to #4 and Spirit from Earth, Wind & Fire was fifth.
1989: Rod Stewart released the single "Downtown Train".
1995: The Rolling Stones released their acoustic "Stripped" album.
1996: On the last leg of their Ballbreaker World Tour, AC/DC played the first of four sold out nights at Sydney Entertainment Center in Sydney, Australia.
2006: On the Route Of All Evil tour, Aerosmith played a 15 song set and Mötley Crüe played a 13 song set at the Cricket Pavillion in Phoenix, Arizona.
2010: At the Brisbane River Stage, Australian Rock/Alternative Rock band Powderfinger performed their last concert.
2012: Soundgarden released King Animal, their first album in 16 years.
