1962: The Beatles recorded their second appearance on Radio Luxembourg, for the program The Friday Spectacular. The Beatles were interviewed and then they played in front of a live audience both sides of their latest single, 'Love Me Do' and 'P.S. I Love You'.
1964: The Animals recorded "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood".
1965: Born on this day, David Kushner, guitarist, Velvet Revolver, (2004 US No.1 & UK No.11 album 'Contraband').

1968: The Jimi Hendrix Experience went to No.1 on the US album chart with 'Electric Ladyland'. The double album included ‘Crosstown Traffic,’ ‘Voodoo Chile’ and ‘All Along the Watchtower’ and featured guest appearances by Dave Mason, Steve Winwood and Al Kooper. Barry Ryan was at No.1 on the Disc & Echo UK singles chart with 'Elosie'.
1968: Led Zeppelin played their first ever show in the North of England when they appeared at Manchester College of Science & Technology. Zeppelin were paid £225 for the gig.
1968: We were first introduced to the new singer with the gravelly voice on this date--Joe Cocker released his first career single, a remake of the Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends".
1976: Al Stewart released the single "Year of the Cat".
1984: Slayer released their first LIVE album "Live Undead" . It was released through Metal Blade Records and recorded in New York City in front of a room of people. It has been questioned by both critics and authors that the audience sound may or may not be faked.
1985: U2 launched their own record label 'Mother Records.' The intent was 'to unearth fresh musical talent in Ireland' and the label released several one-off single releases for The Hothouse Flowers, In Tua Nua and Cactus World News amongst others.
1988: Beast from the East is a live album recorded by the American heavy metal band Dokken in Japan in April 1988, during tour in support of their album Back for the Attack. It was released on November 16, 1988. The album features live versions of the band's most popular songs from previous four studio albums and also includes a new studio track entitled "Walk Away".
1991: Guns N’ Roses peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Don’t Cry” which was their fifth top ten single in the U.S.
1996: The Beatles 'Anthology 3' went to No.1 on the UK album chart. The album included rarities and alternative tracks from the final two years of the band's career, ranging from the initial sessions for The Beatles (also known as The White Album) to the last sessions for Let It Be and Abbey Road in later 1969 and early 1970.
1999: Korn released the album "Issues". Issues is the fourth studio album by American nu metal band Korn. It was released through Immortal Records. The album was promoted throughout 2000 by the band's highly successful Sick and Twisted Tour.
2006: Queen's ‘Greatest Hits’ album was declared the Best Selling UK album of all time by The Official UK Charts Company. The chart which was made up of sales figures from the last fifty years showed their Greatest Hits compilation had sold 5,407,587 copies. The Beatles occupied second place with Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band.
2015: BLACK SABBATH Paranoid is ranked at#9, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Sweet tater tots! This legendary studio album was released back in 1970. BLACK SABBATH Greatest Hits 1970-1978 is ranked at #24, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart.
