1899:The Palais Royal Hotel in San Francisco installs the first coin-operated machine destined to be known as a "jukebox," in this case a crude slot-machine apparatus connected to an actual Edison phonograph. At a then-princely nickel a song, it nevertheless took in one thousand dollars in six months' time.
1939: Betty Everett ("The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)") is born in Greenwood, Mississippi.
1964: Rolling Stones are banned from appearing on BBC radio after turning up late to sessions for ‘Saturday Club’ and ‘Top Gear’

1967: A 16 date UK package tour played its 7th night at the Sophia Gardens Pavilion, Cardiff. Featuring The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Move, The Nice, The Outer Limits, The Eire Apparent and Amen Corner, the entourage performed twice nightly. In 1974, Pink Floyd returned to the venue, which has since been demolished, to be replaced by the 'Really Welsh Pavilion'.
1967: The Who were at the New Barn at the Lions Delaware County Fairgrounds in Muncie, Indiana.
1968:Led Zeppelin signs to the Atlantic label after being guided there by... Dusty Springfield?
1970: Cat Stevens releases his fourth album, Tea For The Tillerman.
1974: Rolling Stones: ‘It’s Only Rock and Roll’ US LP Number #1 at charts
1974: Queen’s ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ hits UK LP chart
1975: Queen started a nine-week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart withBohemian Rhapsody. The promotional video that accompanied the song is generally acknowledged as being the first pop video and only cost £5,000 to produce. When the band wanted to release the single various record executives suggested to them that, at 5 minutes and 55 seconds, it was too long and would never be a hit.
1979: Pink Floyd released 'Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)' which rapidly topped the charts in the UK, followed by the US and a further 9 countries. Featuring children from Islington Green School in North London, close to Floyd's Britannia Row Studios, it was the group’s first UK single since Point Me At The Sky in 1968, and their first chart hit since See Emily Play in 1967
1976: The Scorpions were in concert at Accrington Town Hall in England.
1981: AC/DC released their eighth studio album, For Those About to Rock (We Salute You). This album went on to become AC/DC’s first time to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) went on to sell four million (plus) copies in the United States. Singles from this legendary album included the title track and Let’s Get It Up. Other notable classics on this album are: Inject The Venom, Put The Finger On You, C.O.D.and Evil Walks.
1984: Metallica release "Creeping Death," the only single from Ride The Lightning.
1983: Tom Evans, bass guitarist for Badfinger, committed suicide after the band decided to call it quits.
1987: BlackSabbath released the album "The Eternal Idol" . The album featured Tony Martin singing, Eric Singer on drums, and Bob Daisley on bass.
1991: Genesis : We Can’t Dance : UK LP Number #1 at charts
1993: Live Shit: Binge & Purge is the first live album by the American heavy metal band Metallica, released in a box set format. The initial first pressings contained three CDs or cassette tapes, with songs from concerts in Mexico City on the Nowhere Else to Roam tour, as well as three VHS tapes while a newer version contains two DVDs from concerts in San Diego on the Wherever We May Roam Tour and Seattle on the Damaged Justice Tour. It was originally released as a cardboard box depicting the style of a typical tour equipment transport box. Besides the audio and video media, the box featured additional bonus material (booklet showing photos, typical tour correspondence as sent and received by the band and their management, and internal documents and handwritten notes; a recreated copy of an access pass to the "Snakepit" part of the tour stage; a cardboard drawing/airbrush stencil for the "Scary Guy" logo) and a black "Metalli'Fukin'ca" T-shirt. Live Shit: Binge & Purge has been certified 15x platinum by the RIAA as a long-form video format.
1999: Yngwie Malmsteen released the album “Alchemy” .It is the twelfth studio album, released through Pony Canyon (Japan) and Spitfire Records (United States).
2008: 15 years after their last album, Guns N' Roses released Chinese Democracy in the US, exclusively via the electronics retailer Best Buy. Nine years previously, Geffen Records had reportedly paid Axl Rose $1 million to finish the album, with a further $1 million if he handed it in to them by March 1, 1999.Chinese Democracy is the sixth studio album by American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, released by Black Frog and Geffen Records. It was the first Guns N' Roses studio album since the 1993 covers album "The Spaghetti Incident?", and their first album of original studio material since Use Your Illusion I and II (1991). It was the first Guns N' Roses album without their longtime producer Mike Clink; instead, it was produced by singer Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo. It underwent a protracted recording process, delayed by personnel and legal problems and Rose's perfectionism.
2012: Destruction released the album “Spiritual Genocide” ,their twelfth studio album by German .The album was released as a celebration of the band's 30th anniversary.
