1947: Peter Noone, lead singer of Herman's Hermits, was born in Manchester, England.
1948: Don McDougal, guitarist of the Guess Who, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
1965: The Doors played for a private party on the Pioneer Club Boat Ride in Los Angeles
1970: "Immigrant Song" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. It is built upon a repeating riff and features lyrical references to Norse mythology, with singer Robert Plant's howling vocals mentioning war-making and Valhalla.The song was included on their 1970 album, Led Zeppelin III and released as a single. Several live recordings have also been issued on various Led Zeppelin albums.
1972: ‘Europe ’72,’ a triple-live album from the Grateful Dead, is released. Recorded during a 22-date European tour, it becomes their highest-charting album to date, reaching #23.
1973: The Who perform in Newcastle, England, to support their Quadrophenia album. During the performance, a backing tape turns out to be 15 seconds behind Keith Moon’s vigorous drumming. In his frustration, Pete Townshend storms off stage and doesn’t come back until a half-hour later.
1983: Def Leppard hits #28 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with Foolin’. This hit is featured on the third studio album from Def Leppard: Pyromania. This album was released in 1983 and has since sold over ten million copies, earning Diamond certification from the RIAA.
1987: ‘Tunnel of Love’ becomes Bruce Springsteen’s fourth #1 album, following ‘The River’, ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ and ‘Live 1975-85′. According to ‘Billboard’, he is the only artist to amass four #1 albums in the past ten years.
1988: New Jersey was the #1 album for a fourth week for Bon Jovi. Guns N' Roses remained at #2 with Appetite for Destruction .Def Leppard's amazing album Hysteria was still at #4 after 64 weeks and U2's live album Rattle and Hum climbed from 14 to 5.
1995: Van Halen ended their tour in support of their tenth studio album, Balance, at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii. This would be the last Van Halen concert with the dynamicSammy Hagar, until their reunion tour in 2004.
1999: The members of Van Halen announce that Gary Cherone is leaving the band. The musicians and the singer maintain that the departure is without rancor. Anyways, Gary, great as he is, wasn’t right for the sound… that’s the brown sound!
2000: U2 races to No. 1 on the U.K. album chart with “All That You Can’t Leave Behind,” pocketing an eighth No. 1 on that survey and denying Blur its fifth in the process.
2001: Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd is the fourth compilation album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 5 November 2001 by EMI internationally and a day later by Capitol Records in the United States. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart on 24 November 2001, with sales of 214,650 copies.It remained on the chart for 26 weeks.The album was certified gold, platinum and double platinum on 6 December 2001 in the US by the RIAA. It was certified triple platinum in the US on 8 January 2002, and quadruple platinum on 10 September 2007.
2013: Stryper released the album “No More Hell To Pay”.No More Hell to Pay is the fifteenth release and tenth studio album from Christianglam metal band Stryper, produced by band frontman Michael Sweet and released by Frontiers Records.
