1943: Roberta Joan Anderson was born in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada. She was one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of the Rock Era. We knew her better by the name Joni Mitchell.


Tommy Thayer(KISS)

1960: Born on this day, Tommy Thayer, lead guitarist, took over Ace Frehley's character in KISS of the ‘Spaceman.’



1969: Led Zeppelin released the single "Whole Lotta' Love".



1969: Ummagumma is the fourth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd. It is a double album and was released on 7 November 1969 by Harvest Records.The first disc consists of live recordings from concerts at Mothers Club in Birmingham and the College of Commerce in Manchester that contained part of their normal set list of the time, while the second contains solo compositions by each member of the band recorded at Abbey Road Studios.The artwork was designed by regular Floyd collaborators Hipgnosis and features a number of pictures of the band combined to give a Droste effect. It was the last album cover to feature the band.

1970: Led Zeppelin III was #1 on the Album chart for the second week withSantana's Abraxas close behind.Ya-Ya's Out! by the Rolling Stones, Neil Young was up to #8 .


Robin Finck

1971: Robin Finck, guitarist for Nine Inch Nails and Guns N' Roses, was born in Park Ridge, New Jersey.

1976: Rob Caggiano was born, in the Bronx, New York. Rob is a musician and producer, famously known as a former guitarist for Anthrax and current guitarist for Volbeat. Rob was also a member of the Hard Rock supergroup: The Damned Things.

1981: The super legendary Ozzy Osbourne hits #14 in the UK with his second solo studio album Diary of a Madman. Sadly, this is the last studio album to feature the amazing Randy Rhoads, due to his passing in March of 1982 at the very young age of 25. Although not credited, bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake were the true rhythm section that played on this entire album’s original release.

1984: Yes released their comeback album 90125.

1987: INXS had a hot song on their hands as "Need You Tonight" moved from 71 to 54.

1987: Bruce Springsteen went to No.1 on the US album chart with 'Tunnel Of Love.' His eighth studio album went triple platinum in the US, with 'Brilliant Disguise' being one of his biggest hit singles, peaking at No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

1988: IronMaiden released the single “The Clairvoyant"

1991: Rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin quit Guns N’ Roses and was replaced by guitarist Gilby Clarke. Stradlin citied a combination of Axl Rose's personal behaviour and the difficulties of being around Slash, Matt Sorum, and Duff McKagan, due to his new-found sobriety.


1994: Alice in Chains released their self-titled album on CD and cassette. Previously, it had only been available on LP. Alice in Chains (occasionally informally referred to as The Dog Album,The Dog Record, and Tripod)is the self-titled third studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains. It was released through Columbia Records, and was the follow-up to the highly successful Dirt (1992).

1995: Pearl Jam ended their tour in support of their third studio albumVitalogy, in the second of a two night sold out performance at the San Diego Sports Arena. The legendary Ramones opened both concerts.

1998: Black Sabbath entered the Billboard 200 Album Chart at #11 with their live double album Reunion. This album was recorded during two concerts at the National Exhibition Centre Arena, in their hometown of Birmingham, UK. Reunion went on to become certified Platinum, by the RIAA, in the United States. All four original members of Black Sabbath had reunited: vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist TonyIommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward.

2002: It was a big day for the legendary group the Eagles.The RIAA certified their compilation album Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 as having sold over 28 million copies in the U.S. alone, and the RIAA certified that Eagles Greatest Hits Volume II had gone over 11 million units sold.

2003: David Gilmour of Pink Floyd was named a Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. 2006: The members of Genesis announced that they were reforming for a world tour.

2008: The performance of Def Leppard & Taylor Swift together onCMT Crossroads premiered. This episode showed these artists performing four of Taylor Swift’s songs and four Def Leppard classics. Metal be thy name.

2011: The Best of Pink Floyd: A Foot in the Door is a greatest hits album by English rock band Pink Floyd, that was released as part of the Why Pink Floyd...? 2011–12 remastering campaign.It was later released on vinyl on 26 September 2018.


The Endless River

2014: The Endless River is the fifteenth studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released by Parlophone Records in Europe and Columbia Records in the rest of the world. It was the third Pink Floyd album recorded under the leadership of guitarist David Gilmour after the departure of bassist Roger Waters in 1985, and the first following the death in 2008 of keyboardist Richard Wright, who appears posthumously. Gilmour said it would be the final Pink Floyd album.
