1949: Mick Taylor, guitarist of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers who joined the Rolling Stones in 1969 and also worked with Bob Dylan, Jack Bruce of Cream and Mike Oldfield, was born in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England.
1953: Fernando Von Arb guitarist with Krokus.
1959: Susanna Hoffs, guitarist and lead singer of the Bangles, was born in Los Angeles.
1963: The Beatles played their usual lunchtime show at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, England and then performed at the Majestic Ballroom in Birkenhead. It was time to look for bigger venues, though, as every ticket had been sold in advance at the Majestic and hundreds of fans were turned away.
1963: Kai Hansen guitarist with Helloween and Gamma Ray
1970: The Doors performed the first of several concerts at the Felt Forum in New York City. The shows were recorded and later released on their Absolutely Live album.
1970: Led Zeppelin II became the new #1 album, replacing the Beatles' Abbey Road, which had been on top for 11 weeks.
1972: Neil Young released the single "Heart Of Gold".
1974: Bob Dylan released his fourteenth studio album album Planet Waves, by Asylum Records in the United States and Island Records in the United Kingdom. The album was originally set to be titled Ceremonies of the Horsemen, a reference to the song "Love Minus Zero/No Limit", from the 1965 album Bringing It All Back Home; the release was delayed two weeks when Dylan decided to change the title at the last minute. Another, earlier working title was Wedding Song.
1975: Bob Dylan released the great album Blood on the Tracks.( according to 'MTV' and "Allmusic.com"). The songs have been linked to tensions in Dylan's personal life, including estrangement from his then-wife Sara. One of their children, Jakob Dylan, has described the songs as "my parents talking". The album has been viewed as an outstanding example of the confessional singer-songwriter's craft, and it has been called "the truest, most honest account of a love affair from tip to stern ever put down on magnetic tape" . In 2003, the album was ranked number 16 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and in 2004, it was placed at number 5 on Pitchfork's list of the top 100 albums of the 1970s
1976: Gratitude by Earth, Wind & Fire was the new #1 album, edging out previous #1 Chicago IX, the group's Greatest Hits package.
1981: Bass guitarist Nikki Sixx left the group London and began rehearsing with drummer Tommy Lee and vocalist/guitarist Greg Leon. Thus, Motley Crue was born.
1985: Simone Simons singer with Epica
1987: Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi easily overtook Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band Live/1975-1985 for a second week at #1 on the Album chart.
1996: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, Gladys Knight plus a whole lot of people that have no business in a "Hall of Fame".
2001: Jason Newsted left Metallica after 14 years.
2007: Ronnie placed his hands into cement on the "Rockwalk", immortalizing his handprints forever into the sidewalk of Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA. (located in front of the Guitar Center) Terry Bozzio Official and Slash were also honored along side Ronnie on this great day.
