1956: Andy Cox (guitarist for Fine Young Cannibals) is born in Birmingham, England.
1958: Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" became the first single to ever enter the U.K. pop chart at Number One.
1958: Gary Tibbs (bass guitarist for Adam & The Ants, Roxy Music) is born in Northwood, London, England.
1964: The Beatles scored their first number one song in America with “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” The group would go on to have 24 other number ones in the US.
1969: Creedence Clearwater Revival released the single "Proud Mary."
1980: ACDC released the single “Touch Too Much”. The single reached number 29 on the Official Charts Prior to joining AC/DC on the Rock or Bust World Tour, Axl Rose said this was his favourite AC/DC song.
1983: Allman Brothers bassist Lamar Williams died of cancer at the age of 34.
1985: Prince releases "Take Me With U," the last single from Purple Rain.
1989: After the War the seventh solo studio album by Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, was released by Virgin Records.
1994: Alice in Chains released their third EP,Jar of Flies, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, becoming the first ever EP to do so.
1999: Edguy released the album “Theater Of Salvation”. It is their first album to feature drummer Felix Bohnke and bass player Tobias Exxel.
1999: Nevermore released the album “Dreaming Neon Black” .
2006: Motley Crue received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
2008: The Scarecrow the third full-length album by Tobias Sammet's German rock opera project Avantasia, was released through Nuclear Blast Records.It is the first part of "The Wicked Trilogy" and it is followed by The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon.
2010: Dream Evil released the album “In The Night” .
2012: Mark Reale passed away. He was an American heavy metal guitarist, best known for being the only original consistent and founding member of the American heavy metal band Riot.
2013: A preview of "Unbreakable"(Stratovarius), their fourteenth studio album Nemesis first single, was made available on YouTube.
