Unknown Elements "White Room Nightmare"

Paul Anketell: "Named after a recurring childhood nightmare, the project was created to allow me to exorcise the songs from my head that have been hanging around in there for many years. I was brought up in the town of Antrim in Northern Ireland and at the age of 4 my ongoing love for rock & metal music began when, after exposure to my cousin's record collection, I bought my first single 'Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution' by AC/DC.

Growing up, I'd always wanted to play the drums but never got the opportunity until in my late teens I got the use of a local musician's kit and with a couple of mates we put together a makeshift band doing covers of Green Day, Nirvana, and other 90s bands. We never played any gigs as we had no singer and even though we had started to write our own material, the band fizzled out as we gained other interests.

The love of creating music stayed with me though and I taught myself to play guitar and eventually took courses in recording and producing music so that I could release my own material. In March 2021 I released my debut album 'The Way Of All Things?' - 11 alt. rock/metal songs influenced by Metallica, Deftones, Therapy?, Tool, Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters and Biffy Clyro. All tracks were recorded and produced at home in Comber, Northern Ireland. "

About his new song Belfast Paul says:

"About the song... This song, as the name suggests, was written about my home city of Belfast and was inspired by a lunchtime walk around the city centre which took me down to the Lagan river beside the sculpture of the Big Fish.

While I was there, I noticed a discarded bottle of Buckfast lying on the ground and the remains of a local chipshop favourite the pastie bap. I repeated Big Fish, Buckfast, pastie bap in my head and then thought what else might you see as you walked around Belfast as a tourist?

The chorus references Roy Walker's classic line from Catchphrase 'Just say what you see' because that's essentially what I was doing and that's how the lyrics came about.

Musically it's a punk-rock song similar to Green Day and Nirvana which were 2 of the bands that I used to cover as a drummer in my late teens with a few mates. Back then we played relatively simple songs and we had a lot of fun doing it and that's the vibe I was going for here: simple but fun!"

The song will be released at 6th August 2021. We recomend you to listen " Blow your candles out "
